Upcoming Lab Closures & Shipping Guidelines

Upcoming HSU Laboratory Closures:

  • EASTER – Friday, April 18th, 2025 to Monday, April 21st, 2025
  • ANZAC Day – Friday, April 25th, 2025
  • Labour Day – Monday, May 5th, 2025

EASTER

Closure Dates: Friday, April 18th, 2025 to Monday, April 21st, 2025

The Human Studies Unit Laboratory and IMB Stores will be closed for the Easter Public Holiday and will reopen on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025. Please consider these dates when planning to send samples to our laboratory.

For samples collected on Thursday, April 17th, 2025:

  • QLD Sites: Send using the same courier service you would select for a standard Friday shipment. In most cases this would be a same day courier/delivery service (such as Medifreight), or hand delivery to our IMB stores.
  • All Other Sites: Please DO NOT collect or send blood samples on Thursday 17th April 2025. If any Saliva samples are collected (Oragene or Buccal), please ship on Tuesday the 22nd of April 2025 as per standard shipping protocol.

For samples collected on Friday, April 18th, 2025:

  • Please DO NOT collect or send blood samples.
  • If saliva samples (Oragene or Buccal) are collected, ship them on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025, following standard shipping procedures.

For samples collected on Monday, April 21st, 2025:

  • Ship samples on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 and send using the same courier service you would select for a standard Friday shipment.
  • For Queensland sites, this would be a same day courier/delivery service (such as Medifreight), or hand delivery to our IMB stores.

ANZAC DAY

Closure Dates: Friday, April 25th, 2025

The Human Studies Unit Laboratory and IMB Stores will be closed for ANZAC Day and will reopen on Monday, April 28th, 2025. Please take this into account when planning to send samples to our laboratory.

For samples collected on Thursday, April 24th, 2025:

  • QLD Sites: Send using the same courier service you would select for a standard Friday shipment. In most cases this would be a same day courier/delivery service (such as Medifreight), or hand delivery to our IMB stores.
  • All Other Sites: Please DO NOT collect or send blood samples on Thursday 24th April 2025. If any Saliva samples are collected (Oragene or Buccal), please ship on Monday the 28th of April 2025 as per standard shipping protocol.

LABOUR DAY

Closure Dates: Monday, May 5th, 2025

The Human Studies Unit Laboratory and IMB Stores will be closed for Labour Day and will reopen on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025. Please plan accordingly when sending samples to our laboratory.

For samples collected on Friday, May 2nd, 2025:

  • QLD Sites: Send using the same courier service you would select for a standard Friday shipment. In most cases this would be a same day courier/delivery service (such as Medifreight), or hand delivery to our IMB stores.
  • All Other Sites: Please DO NOT collect or send blood samples on Friday 2nd May 2025. If any Saliva samples are collected (Oragene or Buccal), please ship on Tuesday the 6th of May 2025 as per standard shipping protocol.
